How ACT Makes a Difference: Joel's story

“I am 22 and have been HIV-positive for seven years. I had never accessed support services from an organization before until I saw an advertisement about an upcoming retreat weekend for positive youth offered by ACT’s Positive Youth Outreach (PYO) program. I called PYO, came to a Thursday night drop-in, met with PYO staff, and immediately decided to attend the retreat. WHAT AN AMAZING TIME! Not only did I meet people my own age who were facing the same things I was facing, but I was able to learn more about nutrition, treatment and services available to help me live my life. I live positively now and have learned how to take care of myself because of ACT’s help!”
